லொகார்னோ 75 சர்வதேசத் திரைப்பட விழாவில் விருதுபெற்ற இந்திய இயக்குனர் !

இவரது தயாரிப்பிலும், நெறியாள்கையிலும் உருவான அசைபடமான (Printed Rainbow - animation) ' அச்சிடப்பட்ட வானவில்' பியாற்சா கிரான்டே பெருந்திரையில் காட்சிப்படுத்தப்பட்டது. 35MM படைப்பான இந்த அசைப்படம், பெருந்திரையில் சிறப்பான வேறு ஒரு அனுபவத்தை தரும் என்கின்ற அவரது எதிர்பார்ப்பினை மெய்ப்பித்து, பார்வையாளர்களைக் கவர்ந்து கொண்டது.

படத்தின் திரையிடலுக்கு முன்னதாக, இத் திரைப்படம் குறித்த அறிமுகத்தின் போது, இத் திரைப்படவிழாவின் கலை இயக்குனரான Giona A. Nazzaro பேசுகையில், தான் சார்ந்த கலாச்சாரத்தின் வழியில், தனித்துவமான கலைவெளிப்பாட்டுத் திறனுடன், உலகத்திற்குப் பொதுவான செய்தி சொல்லும் நெறியாள்கையாக இந்தத் திரைப்படம் முக்கியத்துவம் பெறுவதாகக் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

Director and producer Gitanjali Rao was honored as the Indian Creative Woman Award recipient at the Locarno 75 International Film Festival yesterday (08.08.2022) at Piazza Grande.

The ``Printed Rainbow" - animation film produced and edited by her was screened in giant screen of Piazza Grande.The motion picture, a 35MM creation, lived up to her expectations of giving the giant screen a unique experience and captivated the audience.

During the introduction of the film, Giona A. Nazzaro, the artistic director of the film festival - mentioned that this film is becoming important as a common message to the world with unique artistic expression in the way of his own culture.

On being invited to the arena, Gitanjali Rao appeared on the stage dressed in the Indian cultural dress of saree has garbed to a standing ovation.

Speaking on stage and in an exclusive interview, Gitanjali Rao said about the award, "It's a complete honor. So far, I've only received awards for single films. But it feels good because it inspires the young audience and it's not just for one film but for my whole body of work."

In one of her exclusive interviews, she mentioned that "The view of children in Europe is very different compared to India.
There, children are used to watching American cartoons and are not much into Indian animation. But in Europe, with film studies as part of their culture, children see animation as a form of cinema. They don't see it as just entertainment"

She further said, "While I'm here, I know that your young audience isn't thinking like little kids, they're thinking like mature adults -I saw the decision of the Locarno Kids jury, and it's amazing. At every festival I've been to in Europe, I notice that young people look at animation with a more mature perspective - she also mentioned

An experience sharing speech by a girl who attended the workshop for children of this festival vindicated her claim. In front of tens of thousands of fans, the little girl eloquently expressed her experience without interruption.

"I chose animation to make movies because I love drawing and studying graphic illustration. I moved my drawings to tell my story, and I kept doing it, and after a while I realized that I could bring everything I loved about cinema into animation. - It's very artistic, dreams of imagination, there's a lot to do in animation, and I continue to use it because one lifetime is not enough," she concludes her thoughts.

While many people from the Indian film industry are aiming for commercial cinema, director Gitanjali Rao's choice of cinema based on Indian arts is commendable. The Locarno Kids Award she received in Locarno is special and Director Gitanjali Rao as that special woman of faith.
